The
2007 Shift Report: Evidence of a World Transforming
Now available for only $10
The 2007 Shift Report
attempts to chart the transition we believe
is underway from a rigid, mechanistic, and materialistic
worldview to one that is built on a foundation of interconnectedness,
cooperation, and the intersection of science and spirituality.
This 80-page document, highlighted with sidebars, charts,
and quotations, is organized into four major sections:
• Section I – Worldview Breakdown
• Section II – Worldview Emergence
• Section III – Integration / Application
• Section IV – Living Deeply: The IONS Transformation
Research Project
"I
never expected anything as comprehensive as this. It
is EXACTLY what is needed at this juncture, a BIG picture
strategic perspective of what the whole game is all
about. I do not believe anyone else has created such
a strategic vision of humanity’s currently transformative
evolutionary journey in which we find ourselves - right
smack in the middle of it; where we have been where
we are and where we are going." —Jim
Fritz

Dinan /
In
September's iShift, we begin with gratitude
for our International Conference in
Palm Springs, which represented an inspiring convergence
of heartfelt people from around the world who are committed
to living more consciously. The speakers and workshops
did a wonderful job of balancing body, heart, mind,
and soul, thereby modeling the integral transformations
we need on this planet. It was equally moving to witness
the sense of homecoming as members connected with each
other. Attendees were exceptionally generous at the
conference as well, leading us to raise a record-setting
$1.5M for IONS' mission at the fundraising
luncheon! We'd love your opinions to help us sculpt
the next conference in 2009 - (vote
now). You can also purchase audio and video from
the conference from Conference Recording Services (link).
This
month, we are proud to announce our brand new Patrons
Plus Circle program for $100/month donors,
which includes a quarterly 6 pack of the best teleseminars
and insider information about IONS. Program details
are below. The Intention Campaign is
still in high gear and receiving rave reviews. We offer
two additional transcripts of the 24 interviews completed
so far. All of these interviews are now available for
download at Shift in Action for only $1 in the Intention
Campaign trial month offer, which includes Lynne McTaggart's
book, The Intention Experiment.

Creating
a Summer of Peace
By Stephen Dinan
This
month I wanted to share an idea that can bring together
many wings of the consciousness movement in a way that
results in measurable benefits to society and prototypes
a noetic approach to addressing the roots of crime and
violence. The concept is creating a Summer of Peace
that focuses sustainad attention on a single area (such
as San Francisco) for three months, focusing the best
organizations, practices, and resources on shifting
the level of crime and violence. The efficacy of the
interventions at all levels, from individual schools
to the political culture, would be studied scientifically
and explore via media showcasing the best practices.
(full article on Stephen's blog, still to be written)
This
month we share two more Intention Downloads
transcripts:
Angeles
Arrien - "I think that people who trust themselves more than the mystery will set goals, set plans, and high intention for manifestation. People who are open to grace trust the mystery more but they need also to participate more with the mystery, which is setting intention. Those who are efforting a lot in setting goals and planning and strategy and so on need to surrender and trust more. So it’s a both/and: one involves intention, both involve action, intention, and trust."
Rupert Sheldrake - "[T]here's a kind of intention,
a kind of goal-directedness inherent in the very nature
of life in the most fundamental processes that enable
embryos to grow and even protein molecules to form.
And I think that the kind of conscious intention we
experience as part of our mental life has its background
in this goal-directedness which is inherent in all living
creatures, and is an essential part of the nature of
life and an essential part of the nature of the organizing
fields that organize living organisms."

Brave
Neuro World?
Table of Contents
The
Enchanted Loom
Diane Ackerman
With
sensuous and inventive prose, this celebrated
author-poet reminds us that the brain is not just
a machine to be probed but a phenomenon to be
marveled at. A “dream factory,” a
“chemistry lab,” a “hall of
mirrors”—the brain and mind beguile
us into thinking we know who we are.
Peering
into Our Potential
Matthew Solan
From
the placebo effect and meditating monks to the
adolescent brain and food cravings, the tools
of neuroscience keep penetrating the nature of
being human. And as they do, new insights are
revealed about our physical, emotional, and spiritual
well-being.
Neurotechnology’s
Shadow
Byron Belitsos
For
all the promise of neuroscience there is plenty
of peril. While most attention is focused on its
positive applications, other more unsettling purposes
are quietly moving forward. Are the secrets of
the brain falling into the wrong hands?
Our
Evolving Global Brain
Steven Vedro
Rapid
advances in media and communication technology
are rewiring our brains while challenging our
capacity to process a relentless onslaught of
new stimuli. More than a “stew of electromagnetic
noise,” it’s a sign that we’re
moving toward cooperative intelligence and planetary
cocreation.
Consciousness:
Still a Mystery
John Hick
The
brain is not the mind, argues this eminent UK
scholar, despite what the majority of neuroscientists
are concluding. In fact, there are still far more
questions than answers in the quest to understand
consciousness.

The
Consciousness and Healing channel
features content that calls health professionals
and patients alike to help craft a new, more
fitting way of practicing medicine in light
of the major crisis in the practice and delivery
of healthcare in the United States. We offer
an integral perspective, the view that the scientific
quest is incomplete without data from many domains
of inquiry, and that human transcendence can
occur in the face of illness and disease. In
the last year, we've hosted teleseminars with
Larry Dossey, Candace Pert, Neale Donald Walsch,
Stanley Krippner, Elliot Dacher, Janet Quinn,
Bridget Duffy, Joan Borysenko, Penny Livingston,
John Astin, James Gordon, and
Sylver Quevedo. Partners can now download

 A
Trial Lawyer Finds His Soul
There
may be no business as challenged with the intention
of integrating spiritual life into the work world
as the practice of law. Abundant disrespectful
lawyer jokes such as “What is a Criminal Attorney?”
. . . “Redundant,” reflect the inherent issue
here. In his book Getting a Winning Verdict
in My Personal Life: A Trial Lawyer Finds His
Soul (Pavior 2007), Institute of Noetic Sciences
Circle member J. Gary Gwilliam
speaks to the need for personal and organizational
change in the legal profession. The spiritual
journey shared in this autobiography provides
memorable insight into the life of a trial lawyer
and brings light to the dark corners of law practice.

DEAR
SWAMI
by Swami Beyondananda
"Where
Swami Answers Your Questions - and You Will Question
His Answers"
Dear
Swami:
I know you follow politics, so maybe you can answer this burning question. Is America ready for a woman President?
Freda Peoples,
Jamaica, New York
Dear
Freda:
First of all, let me please clear up a misconception. I don't follow politics, nor do I recommend following it. That's exactly how we got into the mess we're in today. If we the people were to lead politics instead, we'd be much, much better off. In answer to your question, I have meditated long and hard about that very issue. I went back and looked at every President from George Washington on, and I realized that every one of those guys was a male. That means that electing a woman President would be ... unpresidented. And having spent the past few lifetimes living in this country, I can tell you unequivocally that America does not like sudden and abrupt change. Therefore, this entire electing a woman President must be a gradual process. That is why I recommend we elect a transvestite first.

Connections / Monthly Intention |
|
September
Intention:
The first of every month at noon (US Pacific), we encourage you to take a quiet moment to link your intention with people around the world. This month, our intention is to open to trusting that everything is happening according to a deeper plan and that if we open to seeing the lessons, even challenging situations can be seen as blessings.
September
Action:
This month, we encourage you to take one area of your life that you have been feeling uncomfortable about and imagine what it would look like if you had a deeper sense of trust that all will work out for the highest possible good, even if that includes moving through a worst-case scenario. Then take one action from that courageous stance.
September
Question for Reflection:
How much more relaxed and effective would we be if we accepted that both positive and negative outcomes can be turned into transformational growth?
This month's member intention was emailed to us
from Tamara Newman:
"My intention is to just keep believing
in the beauty of my glow. No words are needed
when you shine brightly with love and light."
If
you would like to offer an intention for next
month, please send it here.
