The
2007 Shift Report: Evidence of a World Transforming
Now available for only $10
The 2007 Shift Report
attempts to chart the transition we believe
is underway from a rigid, mechanistic, and materialistic
worldview to one that is built on a foundation of interconnectedness,
cooperation, and the intersection of science and spirituality.
This 80-page document, highlighted with sidebars, charts,
and quotations, is organized into four major sections:
• Section I – Worldview Breakdown
• Section II – Worldview Emergence
• Section III – Integration / Application
• Section IV – Living Deeply: The IONS Transformation
Research Project
"I
never expected anything as comprehensive as this. It
is EXACTLY what is needed at this juncture, a BIG picture
strategic perspective of what the whole game is all
about. I do not believe anyone else has created such
a strategic vision of humanity’s currently transformative
evolutionary journey in which we find ourselves - right
smack in the middle of it; where we have been where
we are and where we are going." —Jim
Fritz

Welcome
to the Intention Issue of iShift! This month,
we begin to reflect upon the extraordinary insights
that are emerging as we interview scientific and spiritual
leaders about the nature and practice of intention.
We offer two transcripts of 24 interviews completed
so far, as well as key insights from leaders such as
Marianne Williamson, Michael Murphy, and Barbara Marx
Hubbard. All of these interviews are now available for
only $1 in the Intention Campaign trial month
offer (more)
The
nature and power of intention is definitely getting
hot, with an upcoming August show of Larry King
Live devoted to the topic, featuring three of our
featured experts - Lynne McTaggart, John Hagelin, and
our founder Edgar Mitchell. We'll announce specifics
when we get them.
This
iShift issue is also our last call for Consciousness
in Action, August 9-12, Palm Springs.
The excitement is reaching a crescendo for one of our
best conferences ever, featuring inspiring speakers,
music, and tools for your own transformation. Make
sure you don't miss out! (more)

The
"power of thought" camp has almost become
a movement. Everyone seems to be manifesting something:
a new job, a boyfriend, abundance, the life of their
dreams, a mansion on the hill. The unfortunate aspect
of this movement is that it takes emerging truths about
the ability of our consciousness to influence our lives,
our communities, and even our world, and turns them
into supercharged tools for the ego to get more goodies
(and the purveyors of the philosophy to get more cash).
Our highest spiritual capacities are harnessed to create
a portfolio of possessions. But there is deeper synthesis
that can blend our creative power with our spiritual
growth.
In
the last two months, IONS leaders have been engaging
in extraordinary interviews with today's pioneers in
science and spirituality, going beyond pop manifestation
manifestos into realms of the profound. The Intention
Downloads that have emerged explore the science
about our thoughts and their impact on reality, as well
as how we cultivate the highest, most philanthropic
level of these abilities, both individually and collectively.
The discussions range from the quantum plenum to Divine
Mind, from the importance of surrender to the prison
of thoughts, from abundance to the power of sound to
evolve consciousness. The picture that emerges is humbler
perhaps—micro-heroes instead of super-heroes—but
also more inspiring in its wisdom and heart. It's one
of the most extraordinary collections we've heard, each
interview revealing a different facet of the diamond
of our consciousness.
Personally,
I've learned to better ride the wave of embodied awareness
with yoga teacher Shiva Rea, shift
beyond grosser vibrations with Tamil teacher Dattatreya
Siva Baba, deepen my understanding of quantum
holography with astronaut Edgar Mitchell,
and appreciate the power of the "nuclear" level of thought
with physicist John Hagelin. We invite
you to join us on this journey with two transcripts
this month. And if you join Shift in Action now,
you can download the full set of audios for education
and transformation, alongside Lynne McTaggart's
wonderful book The Intention Experiment that
chronicles all the emerging science (join
now)
Thanks
to our volunteers, we share two Intention Downloads
transcripts this month (click
here to volunteer):
Edgar
Mitchell - "I postulate that [the] quantum
relationship of entanglement represents the most basic
fundamental act of awareness that we could measure in
the physical world..., and that intentionality and intention
and thinking and awareness are all part of this process
we call consciousness. I believe at this basic quantum
level of quantum entanglement, we are seeing the very
fundamental act of consciousness at that level of nature."
James O'Dea - "How do we know directly, deep
into what is in our unconscious realm, and is it sabotaging
in some fundamental way what we would like to see happen
at the conscious level? I really believe that intentionality
is that capacity, that when we’re really talking about
the deepest forms of intentionality we’re talking about
entering the integral domain in such a way that we are,
in some ways, in dialogue with the unconscious and pulling
up information as we do in dreams and intuitions and
in non-linear ways."

Brave
Neuro World?
Table of Contents
The
Enchanted Loom
Diane Ackerman
With
sensuous and inventive prose, this celebrated
author-poet reminds us that the brain is not just
a machine to be probed but a phenomenon to be
marveled at. A “dream factory,” a
“chemistry lab,” a “hall of
mirrors”—the brain and mind beguile
us into thinking we know who we are.
Peering
into Our Potential
Matthew Solan
From
the placebo effect and meditating monks to the
adolescent brain and food cravings, the tools
of neuroscience keep penetrating the nature of
being human. And as they do, new insights are
revealed about our physical, emotional, and spiritual
well-being.
Neurotechnology’s
Shadow
Byron Belitsos
For
all the promise of neuroscience there is plenty
of peril. While most attention is focused on its
positive applications, other more unsettling purposes
are quietly moving forward. Are the secrets of
the brain falling into the wrong hands?
Our
Evolving Global Brain
Steven Vedro
Rapid
advances in media and communication technology
are rewiring our brains while challenging our
capacity to process a relentless onslaught of
new stimuli. More than a “stew of electromagnetic
noise,” says Vedro, it’s a sign that
we’re moving toward cooperative intelligence
and planetary cocreation.
Consciousness:
Still a Mystery
John Hick
The
brain is not the mind, argues this eminent UK
scholar, despite what the majority of neuroscientists
are concluding. In fact, there are still far more
questions than answers in the quest to understand
consciousness.

The
Quest for Global Healing channel
explores how to deal with wounds created by
conflict, collective trauma and large-scale
oppression. We highlight areas of collective

and repressed within the psyche of groups and
even nations. In the last year, we've hosted
teleseminars with Archbishop Desmond
Tutu, Jean Houston, Angeles Arrien, Frances
Moore Lappe, Azim Khamisa, Andrew Cohen, Kaethe
Weingarten, David Gerbi, Georgia Kelly, Robin
Casarjian, Ervin Laszlo, Sharif Abdullah, Robbie
Gass, and Nina Meyerhoff.
Partners can download all of these teleseminars

DEAR
SWAMI
by Swami Beyondananda
"Where
Swami Answers Your Questions - and You Will Question
His Answers"
Dear
Swami:
Am I a lone voice in the wilderness, or are we as a species absolutely nuts? We have people supposedly guided by the Ten Commandments killing each other like crazy, and we’re spending our resources as a planet on war and weaponry instead of love and protection. Where are these religions when we need them most? Or is it time to scrap all of our spiritual traditions and try something else?
Vladislav Gottu-Duwiditz,
Prague, Czech Republic
Dear
Vladislav:
It’s a mad, mad, mad world all right. And
what seems to keep the madness in place is
this: Just because we keep doing the same
crazy things over and over, we begin to imagine
those things are “sane.” Take war. Please!
Especially that most oxymoronic one, the holy
war in the Holy Land. Holy cow-pie, that’s
wholly insane! I guess they must have modified
the Ten Commandments while we weren’t looking:
“Thou shalt not kill, except in extremely
large groups.”
I’ve said it before, but maybe it bears repeating.
It could very well be that the Ten Commandments
are just too much to bite off all at once.
Maybe we should start with One Suggestion:
“We’re all in it together.” Each and every
one of us totally unique, just like everyone
else. We all one with the same One. The Universal
Oneness. The Universe has us surrounded, might
as well surrender.
People
ask me all the time if I’m a creationist or
an evolutionist, and I tell them, “both.”
We humans were created to evolve, otherwise
Jesus would have said, “Now don’t do a thing
till I return!” Maybe it’s time we children
of God finally grow up and become adults of
God, and realize we are the Creator’s creation
created to create. In other words, we’re not
here to earn God’s love, we’re here to spend
it!
What
if human society made the collective choice
to live as if we’re all in it together? Imagine
a world gone sane. Imagine a new mission to
conquer inner space and achieve humanifest
destiny -- manifesting our destiny as a humanity
-- to re-grow the Garden from the grassroots
up, and have a heaven of a time doing it.

Connections / Monthly Intention |
|
August
Intention:
The first of every month at noon (US Pacific), we encourage you to take a quiet moment to link your intention with people around the world. This month, our intention is to create breakthroughs beyond old ways of thinking into dazzling new possibilities.
August
Action:
This month, we encourage you to
take one area of your life that has been feeling
stagnant and have at least three conversations
with friends or allies about how you could look
at the situation with a whole new way of thinking.
August
Question for Reflection:
Which area of your life would you most like to have a breakthrough in and what would you be willing to change in yourself in order for that to happen?
This month's member intention was emailed to us
from Cathy Guzior:
"I intend to connect spirit to spirit for the good of the world in a peaceful understanding way."
If
you would like to offer an intention for next
month, please send it here.
